Locally owned and operated.
High-quality, small-batch cannabis sourced from Michigan growers.
Knowledgeable and compassionate budtenders.
Exceptional customer service.
Those have been the pillars of ArborSide for the past decade. And they remain the heart and soul of the dispensary in Ann Arbor, except that now you no longer need a medical card to visit.
ArborSide is now fully licensed for both medical marijuana and recreational cannabis, with a wide selection of products tested to meet the state’s health and safety standards.
“It’s not just a medical shop with caregiver products anymore,” said Sean McQuarrie, one of the owners of ArborSide, which has a storefront at 1818 Packard St. “We carry state-licensed product and now offer sales to anyone that’s 21 or older.
“We carry just as big a selection on the recreational side as we do on the medical. Any type of product you’re looking for, we’ve got it for sale here. And everything in the store is state-tested and licensed product.”
ArborSide was one of Michigan’s earliest medical marijuana dispensaries, formed by a group of caregivers back in 2011. For the past 10 years, it has been the place to go for patients seeking expert guidance in meeting their unique personal needs.
For most of that time, there had been no state licensing for cannabis. It wasn’t until the past couple years that licenses became available for both medical and adult-use sales, now that voters also have legalized recreational cannabis.
As ArborSide was going through the licensing process last year, it was forced to close on multiple occasions. But now with both medical and recreational cannabis licenses in hand, the dispensary is open again and here to stay.
ArborSide remains the go-to destination for medical marijuana patients and caregivers. Yet, the store also now provides the same level of custom service and education to adult-use customers.
“It’s still the same ArborSide where you can get locally-sourced products, but now we carry brands that are fully licensed and state tested,” said Alex Stewart, general manager. “A lot of customers are looking for a certain product when they visit, and we carry those products now.”

Not sure which product is right for you? No problem. ArborSide prides itself on being an educational spot where you can come in, take your time and consult with the dispensary’s expert budtenders.
The store offers the best one-on-one cannabis experience by building a profile that tracks what each customer has tried and how they’ve liked it. That way, budtenders can better recommend specific products the next time you visit, whether you’re shopping for medical reasons or for pleasure.
“You may have a different budtender, but every budtender has access to that person’s history,” Stewart said. “Our budtenders have been in the industry for years and have a lot of knowledge so they’re able to help you make an informed purchase.
“We’re not trying to rush people out the door. We tailor the experience, so you get something that works.”
ArborSide is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. First-time recreational customers can save up to $40 on their first order and first-time medical patients get 25% off their first order.
ArborSide also offers daily specials including Top Shelf Tuesdays, Waxy Wednesdays and Student and Senior Saturdays with 15% off certain products.
